Joachim Klein, Ph. D.

Subject Matter Expert: Microbial Expression Systems

Within Lonza, Dr. Klein is responsible for strain development feasibility studies, strain characterization and cGMP cell banking, and covering microbial expression hosts—Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and yeasts. Prior to joining Lonza he spent 3 years as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Industrial Genetics in Stuttgart engineering bacteria for the detection, degradation and conversion of toxic environmental compounds. Dr. Klein has 25 years of experience in academia and industry in the fields of molecular biology and microbiology. Dr. Klein received his academic and scientific education in Saarbrücken, Kaiserlautern and Stuttgart (Germany).
