Key responsibilities:

  • Identify the current and long-term needs of Lonza’s businesses by nurturing relationships with the Engineering, Operations and Commercial teams, to ensure Procurement activities effectively support business strategies

  • Develop and execute a category strategy for process equipment and machinery that matches supply market capabilities with our business needs

  • Ensure objectives, actions and priorities are aligned both within Procurement and with Engineering, Operations and Commercial stakeholders

  • Provide active leadership and change management support that challenges traditional spending behavior, product and service level definition to enable productivity and efficiency improvements beyond traditional sourcing levers

  • Lead supplier relationship management and supplier development activities to ensure reliable supply and maximize the full value of supplier relationships

  • Drive supplier performance, compliance and accountability through supplier scorecards and performance metrics

  • Manage escalation of issues, in conjunction with contracts and claims managers

Key requirements:

  • Ten or more years of international work experience in Procurement, with at least 5 years in a global category management role

  • Pertinent Category experience in Process Equipment & Machinery; bio reactors, fermenters, media and buffer prep vessels and skids, process vessels, WFI / Clean Steam Systems strategies that has yielded measurable business results

  • Strong business acumen: can see the world through the eyes of our stakeholders and crafts strategies that demonstrate an understanding of the wider enterprise needs

  • Able to articulate and sell the vision of the category strategy

  • Personal Leadership - takes initiative, ownership and accountability; is a self starter that can work with minimal direction. Has credibility, is not afraid to challenge and must possess an ability to influence

  • Understands customer expectations and requirements and incorporates them into sourcing strategies; establishes and maintains effective relationships; understands that procurement is a  service function

  • Executional Excellence - Gets things done first time right, on time; accurate; bias towards action; has a sense of urgency; thoroughness; able to prioritize work
