Global Talent Mobility Payroll Specialist

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join us as a Global Talent Mobility Payroll Specialist to join us in Manchester, UK or Basel, Switzerland. 

This is a new role within our organization and a fantastic opportunity to really own and drive this new work area.  In this role you will undertake the administration and management of international assignee payroll, end-to-end.  You will act as the strategic payroll partner and be a key point of contact between Talent Mobility, Lonza Payroll Teams, external tax advisor and relocation provider. 

As someone who enjoys the detail, you will be implementing end-to-end international mobility payroll process improvements, while creating documented work instructions which are essential for the governance of international assignee payroll policy and processes.

Finally, you will lead informational training and instruction sessions for the regional payroll teams, as well as ensure effective delivery of presentations and communications to Stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Main contact point and coordination between external vendors (Tax and External Payroll) and internal teams (Mobility and In-house payroll) to ensure the monthly data flow between all stakeholders.

  • Data collation and analysis- ensure home/host payslips are reconciled against payroll instructions and relocation payments.

  • Reconcile any discrepancies in each monthly process, escalating any discrepancies of payroll to the Global Process Owner Payroll and Talent Mobility Lead.

  • Actively involved in setting up a new Shadow Payroll with the external providers. Ensure accurate mapping of wage type descriptions and proper taxation.

  • Coordinate year-end activities for the expatriate payroll in respect of global earning statements, transfer of compensation data to the tax providers

  • Assist with Ad-Hoc employee queries.

  • Manage and assist in projects to improve the effectiveness, efficiencies and understanding of new policies, processes and requirements (for example, new process development or imbedding, new policy review autonomously, new vendor onboarding or RFP to a small scale) with some key responsibilities in leading existing initiative projects (developing training or new processes based on existing vendor relationships or policies).

  • Strong analytical, data, and report skills with attention to detail

  • Proven strength in stakeholder management with strong customer service focus

  • Technology proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
