The Section Manager is responsible for the R2R function of Singapore entities  which provides timely, accurate and compliant month end processes  within Lonza. This will involve the discharge of Month End process and Balance Sheet Liability management.  You will form close working relationships with site controllers and ensure adherence to established procedures, accounting principles and guidelines in order to maintain the organizations financial records.

The role involves assisting in the preparation of group reporting and accounts by working autonomously to follow established procedures, accounting principles and guidelines in order to maintain the organizations financial records and transactions in an accurately and timely fashion. The role will have an appropriate mix of supervisory and operational activities as he/she will be leading a team within the Accounts Payable function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of financial systems to ensure completeness of statutory and group reporting for region, ensuring compliance with accounting principles/standards, relevant regulations and reporting requirements. You will be responsible for the delivery of the R2R taxonomy of services.
  • Ensure month end tasks are executed in a timely and accurate manner. Examples include, but are not restricted to, accruals, prepayments, provisions, inventory revaluations and SMOG review.
  • Analyse month end processes and look for ways to streamline/improve the process. Once improvement opportunity has been identified, you will be required to take the lead on the improvement project, liaising with key internal stakeholders when required.
  • Provide excellence service delivery and technical expertise to key stakeholder groups including business controllers, GBSO management, peer groups, and external bodies.
  • Provide supervision and development for a team of AP accountants.
  • Take ownership of assigned area. This involves reviewing financial statements, and providing detailed analysis when required. Escalate any discrepancies to key internal stakeholders.
  • Key contributor to the GBSO team in Singapore to collectively deliver the finance vision.
  • Support key change initiatives and drive through continuous improvement.

Key requirements:

  • ISCA certified accountant (CIMA / ACCA/ACA) with significant years post qualification experience. Bachelor Degree or equivalent, in a relevant subject with extensive and relevant prior experience.
  • Experience of managing all the delegated month-end close and financial management activities for a number of Lonza stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Overseeing costs and capex reporting.
  • Experience of supporting multiple country/unit based market controllers, providing both a transactional and business partnering function to ensure a high quality R2R service is delivered.
  • Robust experience of end to end R2R processes within a fast paced Shared Services Centre, covering:
  • Trial balances
  • Pre-payments and accruals
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Cost Accounting
  • P&L + BS Variances
  • Experience in Accounts Payable, Expense claims and able to lead a AP team.
  • Hands-on experience in ERP(SAP) and Excel .
  • Experience of liaising and working closely with internal and external auditors;
  • In depth technical knowledge of IFRS.
  • Plus point if having experience in direct and indirect taxes.
  • Change agent with experience of making strong contributions to continuous improvement initiatives.
