The Senior Director & Global Head, Program Management implements strategies within the Program Management organization to ensure customer needs across segments are understood and shared with all stakeholders; processes are designed and connected across the customer journey to optimize the customer’s experience and Lonza’s ability to communicate and deliver; organizational capability is defined and enhanced as customer needs/ business processes evolve; appropriate management/ governance systems are implemented to achieve business unit and company goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Builds a capable, agile, and global Program Management organization with the technical skills, experience, behaviors and know-how to define the optimal experience for Lonza Bioscience customers and implement appropriate systems and controls to sustainably deliver results

  • Generates and implements Program Management strategies to ensure continuous flow of timely information to enable all activities across the value chain consistently deliver to customer and business expectations

  • Designs, implements and leads effective & efficient processes with clear responsibilities for customer proposals and programs

  • Leads a global group of Program Managers & Evaluation (Proposal) Managers, while coaching and developing a customer focused mindset across the Lonza Bioscience organization

  • Works to continually optimize forecast/ demand planning accuracy, in partnership with stakeholders (e.g., commercial, supply chain, etc) to optimally schedule & execute customer programs, manage risk and troubleshoot issues.

  • Continuously identifies opportunities to optimize Lonza Bioscience program management processes and execution through analytics and leveraging the full capability of appropriate tools/ systems.

  • Develops plans for improving productivity, quality and efficiency of operations, in partnership with key stakeholders, to support the strategic aims of the business.

  • Build a capable, customer-centric Program Management organization that: acts as single point of contact for all scientific/ technical customer queries; captures customer technical requirements/ needs and translates into business solutions in alignment with all stakeholders; provides operational support during development & start-up.

  • Responsible for appropriate management/ governance systems are implemented to achieve business unit and company goals. Collaborates with key stakeholders to drive appropriate alignment/ redundancy between productions sites to create dual-sourcing opportunities for customers and to maximize business continuity.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelors’ in Life Science or Engineering; or Master’s Degree in Business, Life Science, or Engineering

  • Extensive Experience in a GMP Regulated, Pharmaceutical, or Environmental industry.

  • Financial acumen managing large portfolios

  • Strong leadership

  • Project Management Certification Preferred (PMP)
