Maurits Janssen, Ph.D.
Maurits Janssen serves as Senior Director, Strategic Business Development, for the Small Molecules Business Unit at Lonza’s site in Basel, Switzerland. Maurits has more than 20 years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and has worked on a broad portfolio of technologies, focusing on the custom manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). His expertise includes chemical and biological custom manufacturing from early-stage to late-phase/commercial development under laboratory and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) conditions; as well as development of highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs), cytotoxic compounds, peptides and conjugates; cell therapy; and viral therapeutics. In addition to Lonza, he has worked for Siegfried, RohnerChem, and Sigma Aldrich, holding positions of increasing responsibility in the consulting, marketing and sales, and research and development sectors. Maurits earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Alberdingk Thijm College before earning his Master’s Degree in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Utrecht.
